Stories for Meaningful Life # 31

# Story out sourced from Social Media
Happy reading to all ... It's awesome attitude
A Little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialed a number.
The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:
Boy: “Madam, can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?”
Woman: (at the other end of the phone line) “I already have someone to cut my lawn.”
Boy: “Madam, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now.”
Woman: “I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting the lawn.”
Boy: (with more perseverance) “Madam, I’ll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free.”
Woman: “No, thank you.”
With a smile on his face, the little boy put the receiver down.
The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.
Store-owner: “Son... I like your attitude;
I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.”
Boy: “No thanks.”
Store-owner: “But you were really pleading for one.”
Boy: “No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have.
I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!”
This is called "Self-Appraisal”
Give your best and the world comes to you!
The Whole world is watching you!!
A famous quote said by Lord Krishna in Bhagvat Gita :
"If u don't fight for what u want,
Don't cry for what u lost..."
"Nothing depends on luck,
Everything depends on work
because,
Even luck has to work."

Stories for Meaningful Life # 30

# Story out sourced from Social Media

Swami Vivekananda
Don't mess with intelligent people..
When Swami Vivekanand was studying law at the University College, London, a professor, whose last name was Peters, disliked him intensely.
One day, Mr. Peters was having lunch at the dining room when vivekananda came along with his tray and sat next to the professor.
The professor said, "Mr Vivekanand , you do not understand. A pig and a bird do not sit together to eat."
Vivekanandji looked at him as a parent would a rude child and calmly replied, "You do not worry professor. I'll fly away," and he went and sat at another table.
Mr. Peters,  reddened with rage, decided to take revenge.
The next day in Class he posed the following question: "Mr.Vivekanand , if you were walking down the street and found a package, and within was a bag of wisdom and another bag with money, which one would you take ?"
Without hesitating, Vivekanandji responded, "The one with the money, of course."
Mr. Peters , smiling sarcastically said, "I, in your place, would have taken the wisdom."
Swami Vivekanand shrugged and responded, "Each one takes what he doesn't have."
Mr. Peters, by this time was fit to be tied. So great was his anger that he wrote on Swami Vivekanand's exam sheet the word "idiot" and gave it to Swami Vivekanand.
Vivekanandji took the exam sheet and sat down at his desk trying very hard to remain calm while he contemplated his next move.
A  few  minutes later, Swami Vivekanand got up, went to the professor and told him in a dignified polite tone, "Mr. Peters, you signed the sheet, but you did not give me the grade."

Stories for Meaningful Life # 29 "An Empty Boat"

# Story out sourced from Social Media
An Empty Boat

A monk decides to meditate alone, away from his monastery.
He takes his boat out to the middle of the lake, moors it there, closes his eyes and begins his meditation.

After a few hours of undisturbed silence, he suddenly feels the bump of another boat colliding with his own.

With his eyes still closed, he senses his anger rising, and by the time he opens his eyes, he is ready to scream at the boatman who dared disturb his meditation.

But when he opens his eyes, he sees it’s an empty boat that had probably got untethered and floated to the middle of the lake.

At that moment, the monk achieves self-realization, and understands that the anger is within him; it merely needs the bump of an external object to provoke it out of him.
From then on, whenever he comes across someone who irritates him or provokes him to anger, he reminds himself, “The other person is merely an empty boat. The anger is within me.”

MORAL: Take time for introspection & search for answer: Empty boat is a famous & fabulous metaphor. Its value lies in its implementation.

Stories for Meaningful Life # 28 "Advice of a Dieing Man"

# Story out sourced from Social Media
Advice of a Dieing Man

At the point of death a man, Tom Smith , called his children and after praying for them, he advised them to follow his footsteps so that they can have peace of mind in all that they do.
The youngest child, Immaculate, a female, looked at others and yelled, Daddy, its unfortunate you are dying without a penny in your bank account, personally, I can't emulate you. Other father's that you tag as being corrupt, thieves of public funds left houses and properties for their children; even this house we live in is a rented apartment, sorry, i can't emulate you, just go, let's chart our own course, let's paddle our own canoe. Few moments later, their father gave up the spirit.

Three years later, Immaculate went for an interview in a multinational company. The interview panel had already penciled down a candidate for the highly coveted post but wanted to complete the formality of interviewing all applicants on the list. As soon as Immaculate sat before the interview panel, the Chairman of the committee asked, "Which Smith is yours" and  Immaculate replied, "I am Immaculate Smith. My Dad Tom Smith  is now late he died a poor man..." But the Chairman cuts in, O my God, you are Tom Smith's daughter? He turned to other members and said "This Smith man was the one that signed my membership form into the Institute of Chartered Administrators and his recommendation earned me where I am today. He did all these free. I didn't even know his address, he never knew me from Adam. He just did it for me. He turned to Immaculate & said, "I have no questions for you, consider yourself as having gotten this job, resume tomorrow, your letter will be waiting for you."

Immaculate Smith became the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company with two cars - one official and one for private use; attached to the office, with a duplex and two drivers and a salary of £100,000 per month excluding allowances and other costs when she travelled outside England.

After two years of working in the company, the Group Managing Director of the company came from America to announce his intention to resign and needed a replacement. A personality with high integrity was sought after. Again the company's Consultant nominated Immaculate Smith.

In an interview, she was asked the secret of her success and the sudden sky rocketing profile and in tears she replied, "my Daddy paved these ways for me. It was after he died that I knew that he was financially poor but stinkingly rich in integrity, discipline and honesty." She was asked again why she is weeping since she was no longer a kid as to miss her dad still after such a long time. She replied, "At the point of death, I insulted my dad for being an honest man of integrity. I hope he will forgive me in his grave now. I didn't work for all these, he did it for me to just walk in."

So finally she was asked, "Will you follow your father's footsteps as he requested?" And her simple answer was, "l now adore the man. I have a big picture of him in my living room and at the entrance of my house. He deserves whatever I have after God."

Are you like Tom Smith?

MORAL: It pays to build a name, the reward doesn't come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer.

Integrity, discipline, self control and fear of God makes man wealthy, not the fat bank balance. Leave a good heritage for your children. Are you building a good name for your children & not a fat bank account? As an agent of CHANGE, please share this true life story with your loved ones. God bless us all.

Stories for Meaningful Life # 27 "Gratitude Can Change Destiny"

# Story out sourced from Social Media
GRATITUDE CAN CHANGE DESTINY

There was a small bird living in a desert.  With no sign of greenery the bird use to hop around on the hot sand through the day. An angel while on his way to God saw the little bird and felt pity.

He went and asked
“O little bird! What are you doing in this hot desert? Can I do something for you?”

The little bird said,
“I am very pleased with my life, but this heat is unbearable. Both my feet are getting burnt. Only if there was a tree here, I’d be delighted”.

Angel said,
“Growing a tree in the middle of desert is beyond my scope. I am   going to meet God, let me speak to Him and ask if He could fulfill your desire”.

Angel asked God, if he could help the bird. God said,
“I could grow a tree, but her destiny doesn’t allow it. And I can’t change that. However, you can give her my message, which will help her survive the heat. Ask her to hop with one foot at a time. That way she can rest the other one for a while and change foot often. This way only one of her foot will have to bear the heat and other one will be able to rest and recover.

Also tell her to remember all the good
things that have happened in her life and be thankful to God for that.

Angel came back to where the bird was and gave her this message from God.
The bird was delighted by the idea and thanked him for the effort he made to make her comfortable.

After a few days,

Angel was crossing the same desert and thought of checking on the little bird.
He saw the bird sitting on big green tree, right in the middle of the desert.
Angel was happy to see the bird in comfort but was very disappointed with God who suggested that there was no tree in this bird’s destiny.
He went to meet God and told Him the whole story.

God replied,
“I never lied to you. There was no tree in the bird’s destiny. However, after you gave her my message, which asked her to be grateful to God for the kind things, she did put those words to action. She remembered every possible thing from her life and thanked God with a pure heart. I was moved with her feeling of gratitude and that’s what made me change her destiny”.

Angel was pleased with the answer.

MORAL: A small gratitude can bring so much in our lives."
Always thank God And Stay blessed."

Stories for Meaningful Life # 26 "Echo"

# Story out sourced from Social Media

ECHO
A man and his son were walking in the forest.  Suddenly the boy tripped and, feeling a sharp pain, he screams "AHHHH!"

Surprised, he hears a voice coming from the mountain, "AHHHH!"

Filled with curiosity, he screams: "Who are you?", but the only answer he receives is, "Who are you?"

This makes him angry, so he shouts, "You are a coward!" and the voice answers "You are a coward!"

He looks at his father and asks "Dad what's going on?"

"Son," the man replies, "pay attention."

Then he screams, "I admire you!"  The voice answers, "I admire you!"

The father shouts, "you are wonderful!" and the voice answers, "you are wonderful!"

The boy is surprised but still can't understand what is going on.

The father explains, "People call this an ECHO, but truly it is LIFE.  Life always gives you back what you give out.  Life is a mirror of your actions.

If you want more love, give more love.  If you want more kindness, give more kindness.  If you want understanding and respect, give understanding and respect.  If you want people to be patient with you, then be patient with them.

This rule of nature applies to every aspect of our lives.

Life always gives you back what you give out...

Your life is not a coincidence, but a mirror of your own doings.

Choose your ECHO !

Keep Smiling.

Stories for Meaningful Life # 25 "Untiying Mental Blocks"

# Story out sourced from Social Media

Life -  All About Untying  Mental Blocks

A farmer was taking three of his donkeys for sale to the market. On the way he saw a river and decided to have a dip. Since he had only two ropes to tie the donkeys to a tree, he looked around wondering how to tie the third one.

He saw a sage and sought his help if he could give him a rope to tie the third donkey. The sage did not have a rope but had a suggestion. He told the farmer, “let the third donkey see you tying the other two donkeys to a tree. Then you pretend to tie this one also”. The farmer did as he was told and went for a dip in the river.

Coming back, he thanked the sage and saw that the donkeys stood exactly at the same spot where he had left them. He untied the two donkeys and patted the third one to start moving. After going a little distance, imagine his surprise when the third donkey stood still at the same spot. Cajoling, kicking or talking did not help with the donkey, refusing to move from the spot.

The farmer went back to sage, who told him, “untie the third donkey”.
"But”, protested the farmer, “I have not tied him”.
The sage asked, “You know it. But does the donkey know that?”
Sure enough the farmer went back went through the motions of untying the donkey. The donkey moved immediately as though released and walked over to join the other two donkeys.

MORAL: We too are tied up by too many imaginary ropes which are really non-existent. The only truth is there are no boundaries in real life and anyone can stretch to any extent.
Life IS  All About Untying Mental Blocks.

Stories for Meaningful Life # 24 "Maria's New Hat"

# Story out sourced from Social Media
MARIA'S NEW HAT!!!

Maria lived with her mother in a small apartment in NYC. She wasn't too young or too old..
not too short or too tall, not particularly beautiful nor ugly..

She was just an average woman. She worked as a secretary at a large company, and her life was pretty much boring and mundane. No one at work paid any attention to her.. Those that did considered her to be as boring as her life was.

One morning, on her way to work, Maria saw a new hat shop that opened down the street.
In a spur of curiosity she walked in the shop was a little girl and her mother, who came to pick the girl a hat, and another customer who was trying on hats...

Maria also tried on a few hats, until she found one she liked. She put it on and  It looked nice.

First to notice was the little girl: "Mommy, look how pretty that woman looks with the hat on!"
The mother said: "Ma'am, I must say, this hat just looks wonderful on you!"

The second buyer also came to look: "Ma'am, you look lovely with that hat on!"

Maria went to the mirror.. She looked at herself.. And for the first time in her adult life.. She liked what she saw. Smiling, she went to the counter and bought the hat. As she walked outside a new world revealed itself to her.

She never before noticed the colors of the flowers or the scent of the fresh air.. The sound of the cars and the people sounded like an harmonious melody..

She walked as if drifting on a cloud with a song in her heart. When she passed by the coffee shop she walked by every morning, one of the young handsome men called out to her: "Hey darling..looking good!  Are you new here?  Can I buy you a cup of coffee? "

She smiled shyly and kept walking. Floating on her cloud...

When she got to the office building, the doorman opened the door and wished her good morning. Never before had he even noticed her.

The people in the elevator asked her the floor she needed and pressed the button for her. The people at the office, as if seen her for the first time. Flattered her on how lovely she looked today.

The manager asked her out to lunch to talk about how she felt at work. When this magical workday was over she decided to take a cab home instead of the bus.

As soon as she put her hand up 2 taxis stopped! She took the first one and sat in the back seat. Thinking about the miraculous day she had and how her life changed thanks to the new hat!

When she got home, her mom opened the door. The sight of Maria took her breath away!
"Maria" she said surprised
"How beautiful you look!
Your eyes are all lit up like when you were a little girl! "
"Yes, mother" Said Maria
"It's all thanks to my new hat,
I had the most marvelous day!"
"Maria"
said her mother
"What hat??"
Maria panicked.

She touched her head and saw that the hat that changed her life was not there.. She didn't remember taking it off in the cab.. Or at lunch.. Or at the office..

She thought back to the store where she had bought it..How she noticed it for the first time.. She put it on.. Paying for it at the cashier's...And she remembered painfully now.. How she put it on the counter..To get her purse out to pay.. And how she forgot the hat right there.. On the counter...Then she walked out to the street..

Hat-less yet glowing!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: It wasn't the hat that freed Maria, it was the quality of her thoughts! Our thoughts can enslave us into a horrible bondage or liberate us towards sweet freedom: to be, do, or have anything we wish for!!!
